CHECKERS
Checkers is an ancient game first played around 3000 B.C. in Iraq. There are evidences that a kind of checkers was also played in Ancient Egypt, nearly around 1400 B.C. As it became too popular, checkers has been played in the western world for thousands of years.
After the rules of the game were set, it was exported to America and England, where it is also called “Draughts”. As the concept of Checkers is related with mathematics and logic, there had been many books written about the game. Checkers first hit the computer programmers' radar screens even before World War II.
Checkers is played on a board made up of 64 alternately-colored squares, eight to a side. It is played by two people and each player starts with 12 pieces. Pieces are moved one at a time, and are always made on the diagonals. The goal of the game is to capture all of your opponents pieces before he captures yours.
